POWERFUL SOLUTION FOR SPECIALIST WHOLESALERS

When Kurt Krannich founded the company in 1995, he was still out on the roofs installing solar systems himself. This practical experience enabled him to better understand the needs of his customers. Krannich Solar is now one of the leading photovoltaic wholesalers and system providers in Europe. The company is represented by 29 companies in 25 countries and successfully sells everything PV installers need to commission a photovoltaic system, from solar modules and inverters to storage solutions.

Due to the boom in the photovoltaic sector, we are recording a much higher order intake than before and are only able to process this order intake thanks to the fully optimized e-commerce and PIM system. Thanks to the MOSAIQ team, we have been able to reach the next level in e-commerce. For us, this was the key to our digital growth.

For us, the MOSAIQ team is not like employees of an agency, they are colleagues who work for another company. Colleagues we can always rely on one hundred percent, who are worth their weight in gold for us in terms of both consulting and technical implementation.

E-commerce platform with Shopware

The task was to replace the old platform with a powerful and future-oriented solution. The online store was to be expanded and made more user-friendly and feature-rich for customers. At the same time, existing functions and logic had to be adopted and adapted to the new software solution.

The new e-commerce platform was built on Shopware. It is supplemented by the standard extension B2B Suite. This provides important functionalities for B2B stores, such as the management of multiple user accounts per customer or extended ordering functions. Missing functions, such as a high level of individual prices at product level with several million data records, have also been implemented.

Central administration

The information required for the online store was not yet available at the start of the project. A product information management system provided a remedy here.

The aim was to bundle all product data and manage it centrally. Missing information could also be quickly identified and completed. We implemented the open source PIM solution Akeneo for this purpose. It is very accessible and an introduction was possible in a time-saving manner.

This allowed us to set up the product database in parallel with the online store project implementation and keep to a tight schedule.

4,000 PRICES PER SECOND

One challenge of the overall project was the transfer of several million pieces of price information to the online store. In order to implement this as efficiently as possible, we decided to develop middleware that caches the prices and can communicate them asynchronously to the store.

Based on Symfony and the use of message-oriented architecture, we were able to implement a solution that enables the high-performance exchange of price data. Up to 4,000 prices are transferred per second, which makes it possible to update all price information every night.

Highly scalable infrastructure

The entire platform is hosted by Amazon Webservices. We use numerous different and specialized services to ensure that the solution can be scaled at any time. In addition to the standard services, other services are also used, such as an Amazon OpenSearch cluster to implement the search function as well as product lists and filters. Simple Queue Service is also active to manage the messages of the middleware, as is the Amazon ElastiCache cluster for use as a cache backend.

Redundancies ensure the necessary reliability, but also higher performance through appropriate load balancing.
