What's your story?
I graduated from high school in 2007 and then went abroad to work and travel - like most people did back then: In Australia, Singapore and Bali.
Immediately afterwards, I started my first degree: Economics in combination with sport. Perhaps it was due to a lack of motivation...., but a motorcycle accident was one of the reasons why I was unable to complete this degree.
Only a short time later, I decided to go into marketing and that's when my training at MOSAIQ began. Looking back, that was the best decision I could have made at the time.
With a good feel for coordinating and organizing things, I quickly found myself in PM. After my apprenticeship, I was then more or less immediately given the opportunity to complete another dual study program at MOSAIQ - this time successfully, of course.
Since then, I have been able to develop steadily and at MOSAIQ I have more or less mastered the path from apprentice to project manager, on to senior and finally team leader, where I currently feel very comfortable.
What makes you special, what are you particularly good at and what is it that only you contribute to the agency?
Through a wide variety of tasks, I have been able to develop a certain calmness that helps me to keep my composure in everyday life.
Thanks to a relatively comprehensive overview of current issues, I have my fingers in every pie. Over the years, my dealings with customers and employees have also become more confident, as has my aplomb in daily business.
It would be good to be able to stop time and slow things down a bit. Everyday working life or the times we live in in general are simply super fast-paced. It's important to ground yourself for a brief moment so that you can live in the now.
When it gets too confusing: → "back to roots". Take a pen in your hand, write a to-do list on a piece of paper (or digitally) with the things that need to be done. Put these topics in order / prioritize them and you're done.
We at MOSAIQ design corporate websites and stores. In other words, digitally tangible business cards for companies on the Internet that can be interacted with.
IF YOU COULD EXCHANGE A DAY WITH A COLLEGE:IN - WITH WHOM AND WHY?
I think I would swap places with an intern. That way, I could directly understand how our team spirit and the way we interact with each other has changed over the years.
Team office or team home office?
Team home office. I have a slightly longer commute and I can definitely make better use of the time than sitting on the train. I can also work in a more concentrated way when working from home - thanks to a separate office. An additional advantage of working from home is that I can see my children more often and watch them grow up. I would be less aware of this if I were away all day. In this day and age, I couldn't imagine working from home without it.
Nonetheless, I appreciate and love the time I spend in the office. I wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to talk directly to the team, to network, or simply to have a quick coffee or lunch together.
I therefore think our solution is the perfect middle ground.
What does a typical working day look like for you?
Basically, no two days are the same: I usually have lots of appointments, write lots of emails and chats and interact with pretty much all the MOSAIQies.
In particular, the days with fewer appointments and free slots often turn out to be the most turbulent ones.
What did you think after your first week at MOSAIQ?
It's been a while: I had to get used to the casual and relaxed working atmosphere at first. After the army, university and so on, I knew things differently. After I started, I was actually still on friendly terms with Sebastian for about 2-3 months. After a few teething problems, it worked out and today we are on a first-name basis.
WHAT'S THE FUNNIEST THING YOU'VE EVER EXPERIENCED AT OR WITH THE AGENCY?
In 12 years at MOSAIQ, there are so many things that have made me laugh.
I keep thinking of a very self-confident intern who felt he was better at everything. Whether it was table football or his drinking strength. It was clear to him that he was the best.
And well... he was proved wrong. He then "cashed in" in the individual duel and lost almost to zero.
What's your secret recipe for staying productive at work and being in a good mood at the same time?
It's important to take regular short breaks to gather yourself and take a deep breath. The bottom line is that my job is about providing my customers with what they need/requested and sometimes even more. And it puts me in a good mood when I know that I've been able to help someone.
At the same time, it's essential to keep calm. Good self-organization and time management are also essential. This allows you to eliminate the "stress" factor relatively quickly. As soon as you have this under control, the good mood comes naturally - at least that's how it is for me.
And another "secret recipe": Of course, I also like to make checklists/overviews with my to-dos. When I can then tick the first box for a completed task, it's a moment of happiness that puts me in a good mood.
To serve all customers equally quickly and with the attention they deserve. We work in multi-project management. This means that each PM looks after several customers.
There are many conflicting goals to be dealt with and it is therefore sometimes difficult to move within a scope in which every customer feels equally valued.
The special thing about MOSAIQ is the family feel that you experience in the team, the team spirit. Each individual has the opportunity to get involved, to make a difference and, last but not least, to develop individually. That's why I'm still here - after 12 years. I can say for myself that I have learned an incredible amount over the last few years. This applies to my personal development, but also to my individual skillset and my qualifications.
I can't imagine that I would have had these opportunities to the same extent at just one comparable medium-sized company without having to change jobs several times. I am convinced that we can really make a difference at MOSAIQ.
Perhaps Jim from "the office". Good for any kind of joke and always delivers when it matters.
If our office was on a desert island, who would be the leader?
Sebastian and Glenn are doing a good job, aren't they? Why should we change that? Never change a running system or team.
What crazy or unusual skill do you have that most people don't know about?
I used to be a gymnast and can do a flickflack (although I'm not sure if I could do it right now without a pulled muscle), walk on my hands, etc.
I took art as a four-hour subject in my A-levels, I'm very creative overall and can not only draw, but also use it for handicrafts. For example, I have already built beautiful shelves or even a tree house for my children.
My Photoshop skills are still sometimes useful in the agency today.
